Donations and service projects tackling childhood hunger across Missouri have resulted in over 1.2 million meals provided to families in need this year.  Missouri Farmers Care’s annual Drive To Feed Kids announced the total Saturday evening in-between sets on the Missouri State Fair’s Grandstand.  Executive director Ashley McCarty tells Regional Radio that included 700 Missouri FFA members packing meals on the fairgrounds August 15th.

McCarty says she hopes the day of service will be replicated at the local level by participating chapters.

This year’s Drive To Feed Kids included several 4-H and FFA exhibitors consigning hogs they showed at the Missouri State Fair through Hogs for Hunger.  The consignments resulted in the donation of 33,000 servings of pork.
