The World Livestock Auctioneer Championships continue Wednesday when Windsor Livestock Auction hosts the third and final qualifying event. The winner of this year’s championships will succeed Will Epperly of Dunlap, Iowa. Epperly explains what led him to enter the contest.
He won last year’s contest in Indiana after competing for 12 years. Epperly says each contest allowed him to improve his craft.
Epperly has this advice for his fellow auctioneers.
A record 48 contestants will vie for ten spots this Wednesday at Windsor Livestock Market. Qualifying events also happened over the fall in Texas and West Virginia. The finals take place in June in Florida, coinciding with the annual meeting of the Livestock Marketing Association.
