Missouri Soybeans and Missouri Corn are teaming up with the Ecosystem Services Market Consortium to pilot a program allowing Missouri farmers to earn carbon credits for adopting conservation practices. Darrick Steen, Missouri Soybeans environment director, explains why both commodity groups are piloting the project.
Steen highlights some of the practices they hope to promote through the program.
Farmers can register with no minimum acreage, but opportunities in the two-year pilot program are limited. Interested farmers can participate in the Missouri Carbon Pilot Project by visiting the project’s website or by calling Missouri Soybeans environment director Darrick Steen at 573-635-3819.
