MN Crop Progress

Harvest continued despite wet field conditions during
the week ending October 31, 2021 according to the
USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service. There
were 4.3 days suitable for fieldwork, the fewest
number of days since the week ending September 5,
2021. Field activities for the week included lifting
sugarbeets, combining, tilling, and manure applications.
Topsoil moisture supplies increased to 4 percent very
short, 16 percent short, 71 percent adequate and
9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies increased
slightly to 8 percent very short, 28 percent short,
60 percent adequate and 4 percent surplus.
Corn harvested for grain reached 83 percent, one day
ahead of last year and 11 days ahead of the 5-year
average. Average corn moisture content of grain at
harvest remained at 18 percent. The soybean harvest
was nearly finished at 98 percent, twelve days ahead of
the average.
Sunflower harvest was almost finished at 95 percent
complete, 5 days behind last year. Sugarbeets advanced
to 93 percent harvested, 4 days ahead of average.
Pasture condition was rated 14 percent very poor, 25
percent poor, 40 percent fair, 20 percent good and 1
percent excellent.
