Nebraska Cattle On Feed Down 6%
LINCOLN, Neb. March 17, 2023 – Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.53 million cattle on feed on March 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was down 6% from last year.
Placements during February totaled 435,000 head, down 12% from 2022.
Fed cattle marketings for the month of February totaled 460,000 head, up 1% from last year.
Other disappearance during February totaled 15,000 head, up 5,000 head from last year.
