Pumpkin Patch Places Moberly FFA Member On Path To State Degree

Of the 962 Missouri FFA members receiving their state degree last week, one student from Moberly took on the task of running his own pumpkin patch.  Hunter Boots launched his operation three years ago, focusing on a crop not commonly grown in Missouri.  He explains what led him to pursue pumpkin growing.

Boots says one problem he’s had to deal with is weed control.  He says cover crops like cereal rye have helped to reduce their presence.

Hunter Boots of Moberly has expanded his pumpkin patch to five acres.  He plans to add a corn maze this fall.
