The gloves have just come off in the proposed acquisition of Kansas City Southern, as a second Canadian railroad has announced a rival bid. Regional Radio’s Kyle Hill reports.
In a pair of documents posted on Canadian National’s website, the railroad says they would maintain offices in the Kansas City metro and retain the Kansas City Southern name on the railroad in both the U.S. and Mexico. Canadian Pacific’s proposal would brand the merged company as “Canadian Pacific Kansas City”, with global headquarters in Calgary, Alberta and U.S. operations based in Kansas City.
