SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Feeding South Dakota, the state’s largest hunger-relief organization, will provide groceries for a Thanksgiving Meal to families facing hunger this holiday season.

Grocery items for 6,000 traditional Thanksgiving meals will be distributed across the state. For the first time in several years the cost of the groceries rose by five dollars per meal, yet the organization remained committed to providing the same number of meals as last year.

“The impact of sustained increased cost for groceries and other household expenses have impacted so many families this year,” CEO Lori Dykstra shared. “We want to ensure a Thanksgiving meal isn’t something these families need to worry about.”

To promote financial support of this event, the Greg and Pam Sands Foundation has pledged a $30,000 dollar-for-dollar matching gift for donations made to Feeding South Dakota November 1-23.

With the support of volunteers, 1,500 meals will be handed out in both Rapid City and Sioux Falls. The remainder of the meal items have been made available to Feeding South Dakota’s Agency Partners to host a Thanksgiving meal giveaway in their community.

Feeding South Dakota’s drive-through Thanksgiving Meal Giveaways in Sioux Falls and Rapid City will take place on Saturday, November 18. Each family will receive one meal with a limit of two families served per vehicle. No pre-registration, qualification, or sign up is needed.

Sioux Falls: W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds from 8am to 10am CT
Rapid City: Central States Fairgrounds from 8am to 11am MT
