Feedlots were busy in February adding to their inventories, setting a record for the month in placements.  The 1,890,000 head reported in Friday’s Cattle on Feed report is the largest number of placements for any February in the 28-year history of USDA’s monthly updates.  Marketings were also higher on the month by three percent at 1,793,000.  Feedlot populations at the start of March were one percent higher at 11,797,000 head, in line with trader expectations.
