LINCOLN, Neb. August 19, 2022 – Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.32 million cattle on feed on August 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was up 5% from last year.

Placements during July totaled 445,000 head, up 2% from 2021.

Fed cattle marketings for the month of July totaled 485,000 head, down 6% from last year.

Other disappearance during July totaled 10,000 head, unchanged from last year.
